How can
SeaWeek benefit your school?
-
Young people become better students when they see purpose behind
education. Taking classroom learning and making it relevant to daily
living is what Sea Week
is all about.
-
Parents recognize the value of experiential learning and have been
enthusiastic about Sea Week's
goals of motivating their kids and reinforcing classroom studies.
- Students gain confidence,
learn cooperation, flexibility, and teamwork in operating and living
aboard a sailing vessel. They steer, they cook, they navigate--and
surpass our expectations when given meaningful responsibilities.
- As educators ourselves,
we've seen this hands-on learning approach particularly successful
with students who thrive in a non-traditional classroom setting.
Although we
provide our own curriculum for Sea Week,
we welcome input from accompanying teachers and schools to tailor the
program to their needs and interests. All of our programs allow
one teacher to attend free of charge.

To implement Sea Week
at your school:
- Contact us to discuss which
programs you are interested in and scheduling. Lead time is
important, and six months to one year ahead is not too early to
begin planning.
- Review school calendar for
conflicts and receive approval from Principal/Dean/President.
- Notify parents about the
program being offered. We would be available at a Parents' Open
House to explain the program and answer questions.

Some schools offer our programs several times
a year and include Sea Week
as part of their curriculum, listing us as adjunct faculty.
Contact us if you would like to make
Sea Week a regular part of your
school's offerings.
We would be glad to present our
transatlantic slide presentation and/or workshops on navigation,
meteorology, and goal setting to the student body or a particular
class.
