How to reserve a Sea Week

(High Schools/Middle Schools)

Step 1 -  Designate a coordinator.  The coordinator may be a teacher, parent, or other responsible adult.  The coordinator will be the main contact person between Different Drum Sailing Adventures and the students attending the trip.  They will be responsible for reserving a trip date, distributing trip information (provided by us), contacting students, and arranging transportation by air or land to our pick up location.  The coordinator will also handle the collection and forwarding of student applications, deposits and final payments.

Step 2 - Reserve a date. Contact us as soon as you know you want to book a trip.  Although we can often arrange a trip on shorter notice, six months to a year is not too soon to schedule with us.  The sooner you contact us, the better the chances of your week being available for your group.  Once a date is agreed upon, we will "pencil" you in for that week.  We must have deposits on hand in order to permanently hold that week for you.  If possible, it works best if your school will forward the deposit while the group is being established in order to hold that particular week for you.  As soon as we have deposits, the week will be reserved for your group.   At that point you will want to make any airline reservations or other transportation plans.

Step 3 - Talk it up!  Start talking to students you know will be interested in the trip.  We will send you flyers and posters to distribute to help promote your trip.   The final cost to each student will depend on the final number going, so six students is better than four.

Step 4 - Answer questions.  Call us with any questions you, parents, or your students might have and we will give you the answers.  After all the students are signed on we will send additional information to help them pack and plan for their adventure.  A lot of information is on our web site and it's a good place for students to explore to get an idea of what their trip will be about.

Step 5 - Final preparations. Check that all passports are up to date (if necessary), all medical release forms with contact numbers are complete, and students have any prescription medications they will need while away.

Step 6 - Leave the rest to us!   If you fly in, we will be there to pick you up. All remaining land transportation needs will be taken care of.   Plan to take lots of pictures, have lots of fun, and bring back lots of great memories!
