Boundless is a 46', ocean capable yacht designed by Henry Scheel and built by the Morgan Yacht Company. She is rigged as a cutter/ketch allowing her to fly up to four sails at a time and to sail in a wide variety of wind conditions. Her 39' waterline length gives her a maximum cruising speed of 9 knots under sail or power.
For comfort, there are eleven possible sleeping bunks below with an additional three bunks available in the cockpit area for sleeping beneath the stars at night! During the day, the cockpit area is used for class discussions, meals, and fellowship. Below, in the main cabin, there's a TV/DVD system, settees (couches) for relaxing, two "heads" (bathrooms to a landlubber), a navigation area, a dining table for meals and board games, and the nightly popcorn bowls to accompany movie nights!
In the galley Boundless is equipped with a 3 burner propane stove/oven along with a large refrigerator and separate freezer.
In addition to her 4 sails (Roller Furling 140% Genoa, stay-sail, mainsail, mizzen sail), Boundless is powered by a 92hp Perkins/Sabre diesel engine. Also in her engine room is a hot water heater and a reverse osmosis desalinator.
For navigation and electronics, Boundless carries multiple GPS systems, sextants, 24 mile radar, an electronic chart plotter, paper charts of all cruising areas, multiple VHF radios, a Kenwood SSB radio for long distance communications and email/weather chart access, wind/speed/depth instruments, and when all else fail...a lead line!
Boundless meets and exceeds all U.S.C.G. safety equipment requirements for a vessel her size and usage. On board there are 5 fire extinguishers, 24 life vests, a 406 mhz EPIRB, all required navigation/anchoring lights, MOB throw rings, propane safety shut off valves, and goes through regular inspections.
